What I Miss
Recovery has a way of showing you what you miss. Not loudly. More like a quiet tug in the background of your day.
I miss feeling effortless in my own body. I miss standing up without thinking about it. I miss walking from room to room without planning the route. I miss the simple freedom of movement that used to feel invisible.
I miss my routines. The ones that made me feel grounded. Morning workout sessions. Saturdays at the studio. Little errands that broke up the day. Small rituals that made life feel full instead of limited.
And I miss people. I miss being around them without it feeling complicated. I miss spontaneous plans. I miss easy conversations. I miss feeling connected instead of tucked away in my own slow chapter.
Recovery can feel isolating even when you’re not alone. It changes how you move, how you show up, how much energy you have to give. Connection takes energy, and right now I’m rebuilding that piece of myself.
Naming what I miss doesn’t mean I’m stuck. It means I’m paying attention. It means I know what mattered and what I want to return to when I can.
I miss a lot. But I’m healing. And that counts for something.
