Work
I’ve been buried in this project for work, giving it more time and energy than I actually have. Fixing things…Reworking things…Carrying things that shouldn’t be mine. And somewhere in the middle of all that effort, I finally said it out loud.
I work harder for other people than I do for myself.
I show up for deadlines, expectations and last minute meetings. I show up for anything someone else needs. But when it comes to my own goals, my own rest, my own well‑being…I don’t give myself the same commitment.
It’s frustrating to notice. Because if I’m not willing to work this hard for myself, why am I doing it for someone else?
My time matters. My energy matters. My recovery matters. I matter! And I’m tired of acting like everything else deserves more from me than I do.
That’s where the shift needs to happen. Before I keep pouring myself into work, I need to remember what I owe myself first.
I am allowed to choose myself. I am allowed to stop giving everything to things that don’t give anything back.
Right now, this is just a realization. I can see the imbalance clearly, but nothing has changed yet. I am still overworking. I am still giving more to my job than I give to my own life.
If I want that to be different, I have to move past noticing and into action. I have to start putting real effort into my own needs, not just thinking about them. I have to protect my time and energy on purpose, instead of hoping it will happen on its own. I have to decide that I am worth working for.
I’m not doing it yet. But now I see that I need to. And that is where the change has to start.
