Silence
Yesterday was one of those long work days where I had to be “on” from start to finish. Meeting after meeting. Conversation after conversation. By the time I shut my laptop, I felt wrung out.
So I didn’t turn on the TV. I didn’t open Spotify. I just laid down and let the house be quiet for the first time all day.
In that silence, I noticed things I usually miss. The front door expanding in the heat. The house settling in small, familiar ways. The fridge running in the background like steady white noise. It felt peaceful to just listen. To let everything slow down. To let my brain stop working so hard.
And then I fell asleep.
Sometimes the quiet is exactly what you need. Sometimes it’s the only thing that finally lets you rest.
